Flawlessli You is all about improving the quality of your life and the lives of others. We look for articles that are entertaining, empowering and informative. Specifically, we welcome stories on the following topics:  

  • Spirituality: ways to reconnect
  • Beauty: ways to enhance natural beauty without the use of invasive treatments
  • Fitness: getting physical, with soul
  • Wholesome cooking: nourishing foods and simple recipes
  • Fashion: ways to simply style up your wardrobe and creative ways to dress up modestly 
  • Real Life Experience stories: first-person accounts of overcoming serious situations using means of personal progress, mindfulness and what you learnt from it. 
  • Self development: ways to consciously improve oneself in various aspects of their life.
  • Poems: open the mind and soul giving hope, motivation, mindfulness and balance of life. 
  • Culture: knowledge and history of all different culture and peoples lifestyle and beautiful traditions.  

Flawlessli You stories are more than your average magazine articles, readers expect the unexpected every time they open a new issue. The greatest ideas should be the kind that will make a reader go to their best friend and say, “You need to see this, it’s really inspirational/ humorous/ breathtaking/ creative." 

Authors have their own individual voices, and we encourage them to speak their minds. We’re looking for great outlook of stories that's bursting with personal insight and humour. It should welcome the reader in rather than closing them out. 

Editorial Policy and Style Guidelines: 

When writing a submission for us to consider, please consider the following:

  • What benefit will the reader gain by getting beyond the headline and first paragraph? Can they relate? Make the reader an offer. 
  • Personalize in 2nd person where you can, by talking to “you” as you would in a conversation. Try to avoid talking about “we”, “us” and “our”.
  • Flawlessli You has a disclaimer that reverts to the author. Be mindful of your legal position regarding the laws applying to libel, slander and defamation. 
  • Flawlessli You does not publish advertorial or “people profiles”. Please do not mention personalities, products, commercial services etc. in your work. Talk to our team if this is of interest. 
  • Provide a brief bio (two or three sentences) describing yourself, your qualifications and/ or your current professional status. You may include brief contact details if you wish. 
  • Flawlessli You reserves the right to edit all material accepted for publication.
  • Real Life Experience articles are generally 800-1000 words. Feature articles are generally 2000-2500 words.
  • When conducting research on the internet, be discerning about the information you find. Always ensure your sources (online and otherwise) are reputable and accurate.
  • Make sure that you consult sources first hand. Please do not cite a second-hand reference without having consulted the original source.
  • Be mindful of plagiarism. To avoid the risk of plagiarizing, acknowledge all your sources with full references and use quotation marks when transcribing material verbatim.
  • Avoid dictatorial style of writing. Flawlessli You is a self-help, DIY manual for creative  change and personal growth, so aim to help and inform. Having finished your article, readers should be able to take a few steps recommended in the story to create a positive change in behaviour.

Submission: 

Please take the following into account:

  • Email your submission as a Word doc 11 point Times New Roman font.
  • Images is highly preferred in submission. Label all images with a brief descriptive caption and the photographer’s name. Electronic images should be 300dpi JPEGs or TIFFs with a linear size of at least the size they will appear in the magazine.
  • Include a bio (120 words or less) with links to your website, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter accounts where relevant along with a headshot or photo of yourself to use if/when we publish your story online, printed or both.
